it's a summer holiday
hiya all, greetings from istanbul!
i’m 3 days into an amazing holiday here, with minimal wifi, no phone signal and an agenda of eating our way through the michelin guide, drinking half the efes supply of istanbul and spending as much time switched off as possible.
i’m going to keep the chat brief this week, as i’m short of time and trying to switch off. a full debrief can come early next week when i’m back. i’m just going to share with you a few photos and some records that i’ve picked up.
wednesday night was super special, i got to play on the rooftop of vakkorama in galataport, a bar named sail loft run by a friend of a friend. me and ceylan shared the music duties with the incredible view of the asian side of istanbul over the other side of the bosphorus.
loads of great music was played in our sunset to nighttime session, but this track totally has stuck in my head since. stunning x
in other news, gilles p had the first spin of the new 7 inch coming out on mr bongo in the with love series. yesterday on his brownswood basement he played a test pressing of smoke inc.’s “waitin for love”, a 7 inch that was desperate for a reissue (once sold for £3000!). announcement and preorder coming soon.
